
DeWitt started her stage show at the age of 13. At the age of 13 DeWitt started performing on the stage. She graduated with an Bachelor of Arts degree from Ball State University. The director suggested that she enroll in UCLA's Department of Theater MFA program. In the program, she was awarded the Master of Fine Arts Fellowship along with the Clifton Webb Scholarship. Dewitt stated that she had never encountered Abe Vigoda during her time at UCLA. The role she played by DeWitt as Janet Wood in Three's Company's 1977-1984 period is among her most well-known. She was part of the show's pilot and was employed. She also appeared as Janet in an episode in 1979 from the spinoff series , The Ropers. DeWitt began her acting career in a scene in 1984 on Three's Company. In June 1991 she returned to acting performing in Noises Off at Michigan's Cherry County Playhouse. [1] She also appeared in Spring Fling, which was a 1995 TV comedy. Pinky and the Brain aired an episode in 1997 that featured a character based upon her. The voice actor was another actress. The actress was also featured in an episode of Cybill. Her 2000s work include TV shows like Hope Island, The Nick at Nite Holiday Special and Call of the Wild.
